What is SPC Flooring?
Trioflor Rigid core luxury vinyl flooring, also known as SPC Flooring, is the most durable waterproof vinyl flooring option on the market. It has a similar structure to WPC, but it has an ultra-tough core, which is the origin of the name "rigid core".
So what does SPC stand for in SPC Flooring?
SPC is an industry term for Stone Plastic Composite or Stone Polymer Composite (these terms are used interchangeably). It describes the ultra-tough core of a rigid core luxury vinyl floor. The stone-plastic composite material makes the core layer almost indestructible, maintaining its shape even on uneven sub-floors.
SPC Flooring usually consists of 4 layers.
Acoustic layer: This is a solid foundation for your plank. Usually, the backing will also have pre-attached padding.
SPC core: SPC Flooring contains a strong waterproof core, no matter how much liquid you touch, there will be no ripples or swelling. The core material is very dense and does not contain the foaming agent found in traditional WPC flooring. It reduces your softness under your feet slightly, but it makes the floor more durable.
Printed vinyl layer: This layer has super-realistic photo images, making the vinyl look very much like stone and wood.
Wear-resistant layer: The wear-resistant layer is like a bodyguard of a wooden board; it can protect your floor from abrasion. In the case of the wear layer, thicker still means better. SPC Flooring usually comes with a thick wear layer option to provide heavy-duty protection.
6mm SPC Flooring Advantages
Waterproof: This is why rigid core and WPC vinyl are so popular. It is very suitable for business owners, pets and watery areas.
Ideal for uneven subfloors: The rigid core is designed to be installed on any existing hard surface, including ceramic tiles, even if it is not perfect or completely level.
Ultra durable: The SPC core makes this vinyl floor the most durable vinyl floor choice.
Realistic wood and stone look: High-end vinyl flooring mimics natural materials better than ever. SPC vinyl is the essence of crops, so the visual effects are usually incredibly convincing and beautiful.Contact us for details.
Low maintenance: It is simple to make your floor look great. Vacuuming and mopping the floor occasionally, everything is ready.
Easy to install: Rigid core luxury vinyl tiles and planks are easy to install by yourself, most options are interlocked and float on your existing surface.
Look great: Available in countless patterns, colors and textures to get the exact look and shade you want.
Safe and environmentally friendly with better air quality: free of dangerous chemicals commonly found in floors such as formaldehyde, glue, benzene and phthalates.
Disadvantages of spc flooring:
1. Thinner materials don't provide as much cushioning underfoot compared to hardwood or laminate.
2. Need to be applied to a flat floor. The thicker the plank, the more forgiving it is on uneven surfaces.
3. Cannot be installed in outdoor spaces.
4. Not Fade Resistant - If you put your SPC in a place with plenty of natural light, it will fade over time. We do not recommend using it for solariums.
Selection of spc flooring:
The thicker the plank, the more stable and comfortable it is to walk. With that comes a price increase, but so does the warranty. As thickness increases, it becomes more forgiving when installed on slightly uneven surfaces, we always recommend placing the SPC on a surface that is as flat and free of debris as possible.Get a quote.
Application of spc flooring:
SPC is an extremely cost-effective flooring option Suitable for basements, secondary holiday homes or rental homes due to its waterproof properties, also great for normal wear and tear residential main floors in kitchens, living spaces or bathrooms.
How to clean hard core SPC floors?
The maintenance cost of SPC flooring is extremely low. For family homes, sweep or vacuum high-use areas once a week or more frequently. Clean up spills immediately. Use a light mop for deeper cleaning as needed.
For high-traffic commercial businesses, sweep or vacuum spc floors every night and wipe up spills immediately. Use a mop dampened with lukewarm water to remove any dirt left after sweeping or vacuuming. However, if you need to use soap or cleaner, make sure the cleaner is designed for spc floors.
The difference between SPC flooring and WPC flooring:
1. Material: SPC stands for Stone Plastic (or Polymer) Composite, the core of which is usually composed of about 60% calcium carbonate (limestone), polyvinyl chloride and plasticizers.WPC stands for Wood Plastic (or Polymer) Composite. Its core material is usually composed of polyvinyl chloride, calcium carbonate, plasticizers, blowing agents and wood or wood-based materials such as wood flour.
2. Durability: The core layer of SPC is composed of limestone. It is denser, but thinner overall. It can better resist scratches caused by heavy objects placed on it, and it is not easy to expand under extreme temperature changes.
3. Sound insulation: In addition to providing more cushioning while walking, the foaming agent in WPC provides more sound absorption than SPC floors, although many manufacturers offer acoustic backings that can be added to SPC. WPC or SPC with acoustic backing are ideal for environments where noise reduction is required, such as classrooms or office spaces.
4. Installation: Another highlight of SPC and WPC is that they do not require extensive subfloor preparation before installation. but needs to be installed on a flat surface.
5. Comfort: WPC is generally more comfortable than SPC, and since it is usually composed of a blowing agent, it is less dense. Because of this, WPC is ideal for environments where employees or customers are often standing.
6. Cost: The price of SPC and WPC floors are similar, but SPC is usually slightly cheaper. This helps reduce installation time and costs as neither requires the use of adhesives.
